ways you can help volunteer!

Therapeutic Riding Volunteer
Volunteers are the backbone of our therapeutic riding lessons!  We can not ride our kids without help from you!!!

Each child requires 4 volunteers - one horse leader, 2 side-walkers, and a helper.

What are the different roles of our volunteers?

• Sidewalkers - walk next to the horse to help support the rider and provide safety
• Horse Leader - lead the horse during lessons and provide safety
• Helpers - are with the team and help with props and other needs, interacting with the rider

No horse experience is necessary!  We provide the training so all you need to do sign up!  All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer training course with us prior to interacting with the kids.  If you are looking for a way to make a lasting change in a child's life this is it!

Barn Help and Horse Care
We can always use a hand around the barn!  If you are interested in helping take care of the horses let us know.

Typical help we need:

• barn chores and cleaning
• helping groom horses
• helping work with the horses on ground skills & getting them used to props
• putting up fencing and maintenance
• for those that are good working with their hands - we can use volunteers to help construct our indoor arena

Start by sending us an email to volunteer@UnbridledChange.org or contacting us at 540-719-2171.  We will set up a time for you to come out to the barn for a tour and met and greet, then you will need to turn in your volunteer application and attend a volunteer training.
