How Embracing Death and Rebirth Unlocks Your Next Chapter

Sep 29, 2025

We are at the end of our four-part mini-series on liberating our creative nature and embracing the ability to courageously connect with all the stages of creation. The fourth stage is one of the things that the Mental Being often tries to restrict the most, our willingness to truly welcome new form and creation after a loss.

The mystical law of death and rebirth encompasses what I call the sixth stage of grief: our willingness to step into new creations. Einstein said, “Energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be changed from one form to another.” One of the hardest concepts for our Mental Being and its host of protectors to embrace is the idea that there can be life or creation after death. This isn’t just for our own physical death and transition from this lifetime to the next, but in all endings and beginnings that happen in our lifetime.

Every choice we make is interwoven with both destruction/endings AND creation/beginnings.

That begs the question then, why does our mind and protective mechanisms struggle so hard to try and avoid really engaging this law of creation?

Mainly, if it really embraces it, that means it will fully accept that the things, people, and times of our lives that we love, cherish, and want to stay the same will not. Loss and impermanence is inevitable. That no matter how much I love and protect something, it will have an ending. In part three, we explored some of the main ways we try to protect ourselves from the stage of releasing. In this final stage of creation, we shift from the idea of releasing to the act of it. The “death” has fully occurred or is no longer and what if. We are being asked to walk with the ending of one form, which naturally opens us up to a new way of being. In that space of loss, there is also an opportunity for transformation and change. To allow that one release to usher in whole new ways of being, thinking, and perceiving ourselves and life in general. Having an inner stance of willingness to release gives ourselves permission to release our attachments and allegiance to what was and is. In doing so, we can open to both what is currently available to us AND what is also wanting to take form. Embracing death and rebirth means that we are willing to be inspired once more and are beginning to stir and engage with what our Heart and Soul want us to experience and grow with.

Tricky Traps with this stage: One potential trap that our Mental Being naturally tries to ensnare us in is trying to recreate the past in the new. We unknowingly transfer our old habits, ideas, thoughts, fears, beliefs, and patterns from the old to the new. Trying to follow the well-worn paths of the old ways in the new. The other common trap is that we can swing so far from what was from a protective standpoint, that we are not allowing ourselves to see what wants to be a part of the new creation. Either extreme is problematic.

Transformational change and the healing journey asks us to find the organic balance of honouring what was, witnessing and seeing the wisdom and strengths that came from the past, and being with both what is and what wants to be unhampered by our past versions and experiences.

In episode 43 of Soulful Practices Podcast, I share a few examples of how you can start to work with this stage of creation in conscious ways.

Highlights from the episode:
Embracing death, rebirth, and your true creative nature means that we can honor what was at the same time that we can embrace and engage in something new.

When we can truly embrace an inner stance of willingness to release, and hold our lives lightly no matter what, we don’t have to try and balance from our Mind how to honor what was and be open to what new what to come in. These two potentially conflicting things don’t have to cancel each other out, be compared to one another, or make sense with each other. For example, I can love my old job and everything about it, and I can also be open to new possibilities, experiences, and connections with a new job. However, if I get locked in comparison, wishing for what was, or trying to recreate the same experience again, I will stifle the growth and creation of something new that is wanting to be experienced now and in the future.

Reflections and Healing Inquiries

To help you explore hidden ways you might be stuck in trying to recreate the old or protect yourself from the potential loss journal on:

  • What are the different levels of willingness within you to engage with change? Take a look at the different aspects and areas of your life: career, housing, relationships, financial…and even little daily habits.
  • What areas in your life can you already feel that something new is ready to grow and be created from letting go of what was?
  • What areas of your life can you feel that things just no longer fit, or are de-animating in the same way?

Invite in the energy of the Sacred Witness to help you seek understanding:

  • What is happening with these areas of your life, becoming aware of where you can see opportunities of new growth or opportunities but something is holding you back.
  • What hidden ways might you be bound by old allegiances and ways of viewing yourself that parts of you are nervous about allowing yourselves to move out of the safety of the known and into the uncharted waters of the unknown and realm of possibilities.

Connecting with Co-Creation

Creation means a willingness to take action. Ask for guidance on what aligned actions you can engage with right now in your daily life that will help you step into the new energy and creations that are trying to be with you right now.

Healing Tip

Remember, guidance is real-time and real-world based. True Soul-Led guidance might invite you to reach out and develop new connections, relationships, and/or reallocate your current resources (time, treasure, and talents). However, it will never require you to have an influx of resources such as when I have this, then I can do that. IF you feel this narrative happening in your reflections, that is a sign that you are actually chatting with a Mental Being Protective Part of you and not your True Self / Wise One Self and Team. When this happens, I invite you to smile inwardly and compassionately ask, “Who is here and what are they nervous about?” When these double binds and promise land thinking Parts of us show up it is an opportunity for deep understanding, witnessing, and true healing that can lead us to true liberation.

Surrendering to this stage is really the key to unbridling our true nature as Beings of Creation. It allows our protective systems to have the flexibility they need to trust and follow the lead of our Heart and Soul Beings that are not bound by fear. When we embrace death and rebirth we can both mourn and release the old while at the same time welcoming and being fully with the current time, choices, and ways of being that are coming forward that match the present moment and what wants to be created for the future.

I would love to hear what new awareness and invitations come forward for you from exploring the reflections that this series has invited you into.

If this practice is speaking to you, I share more about these stages and how to consciously work with them in my new publishing project the Sacred Witness Oracle suite and my new upcoming new release, second book Trauma Informed Enlightenment

As of the time I’m releasing this blog we just wrapped up our main Kickstarter campaign to help us create the funds needed to self-publish this project and bring it out to the world. While the campaign has officially ended (thank you to everyone who supported it!!!), you can still pre-order the suite and access both special discounted pricing AND exclusive Kickstarter backers-only bonuses and perks through limited late pledges.
