Mindfulness and Energy Exercises for You and Your Kids

Mar 31, 2020

With the current state of social distancing and in VA the stay at home order, we have had to cancel our Group Equine Partnered Mindfulness classes for the month of April and are now, unfortunately, looking at possibly May as well. To keep the energy flowing out to those that might be looking to cultivate a little Zen through all this change, we are offering a few of our favorite activities and teaching online instead!

Up first, a little support and help for all the parents out there (and if you don’t have kids, these still work for the young at heart).🙂

I’m sure you have noticed, it isn’t just our daily routines that have had to change with everything that is happening right now. Our body’s rhythms and cycles are also having to adapt and change as well as our old routines of “being” and “doing” have shifted in some form or fashion. As a result of these changes, you might be finding it hard to hold a sense of calm and balance. But don’t be too hard on yourself or your kiddos, your bodies are literally trying to figure out how to regulate themselves both individually and now in harmony with each other in this “new normal” we find ourselves in.

So how can you help them cultivate the skills of regulation for your kids and yourself?

The answer might surprise you through co-regulation.🙂We are literally designed for connection and co-regulation first before we can regulate individually. (I can geek out here, but I will restrain myself somewhat if you want to dive deeper into some of the science behind this theory of entrainment, look up a study by a Dutch Physicist in 1665.) So with this concept in mind, we have pulled together a few of our favorite mindfulness and energy exercises and activities that we do with our clients, and I do with my kids.

Oh, and if you like these, we have more available for you for free in our mini-courses – Mindfulness for Kids and Reclaiming your Energy Mojo.

Up first – The Silly Walk

We love this exercise as one of the very first ways we start to introduce the skills of mindfulness via movement. This one works on being able to learn how to bring our energy up and then how to bring it back down AND be regulated in the process.  Yep, it is possible! It is a skillset and this exercise helps to develop it.🙂

Next, an Eden Energy Medicine (EEM) exercise – The Butterfly

This is a great exercise that helps you balance your aura and energy body. The exercise helps you start to feel whether your energy field needs more energy and to grow OR if you are feeling like you are too big and out there energetically, how to pull it back in and help you feel more balanced and protected in a nice little energy bubble or cocoon.

Up last, an EEM exercise – Taming the Dragon (or Taking down the Flame)

This one is awesome for when you feel overwhelmed with pretty much any emotion – anger, panic, fear, or just too much energy in general and you can’t seem to find a way to calm. This is one of my top go-to EEM exercises for myself or with my kids when I feel that there isn’t a way to center or calm. Oh, and heads up, there is one of our very proud chickens in the background of this one letting us know that she just laid an egg! Got to love the farm life!)🙂

I hope you enjoy these exercises! If you would like some more to practice and explore, check out our free resources page for 2 mini-courses packed full of our top energy and mindfulness activities for yourself and for your kids.

Sending light and love to all,
