Words Create Form

mindful language and its impact on creating inner harmony or conflict

Recently my daughter showed me a graphic that was circulating through social media that her friends were liking and sharing because it was supposed to be highly motivating. However, when she read it, she was confused and didn’t feel that it motivated her at all. She showed it to me and wanted to know my thoughts. And did I have some thoughts!

Here is the graphic and I’m curious what you feel as you read these words? What are these words really creating and manifesting within you or someone else you might say them to?

Tara Brach, a leading meditation and spiritual teacher, once shared,

“We free ourselves from the prison of trance as we stop the war against ourselves and learn to relate to life with a wise, compassionate heart.”

The format of this “inspirational” graphic is actually creating inner war and separation, the exact opposite of what it is trying to create. If you allow this to resonate within, you are either able to have ambition or laziness; wisdom or anger; dreams or fear.

If even one side of this list exists in the smallest form it destroys, restricts, and severs the other from me. Yet is that true? Can I “cut” out one side of this list or the other from impacting or connecting with me?

The short answer is no, that is not true. Yet, we love the idea of being able to take out the left side of that list and liberate ourselves that way. However, that idea is housed in dualist thinking and is a protective belief or attachment that holds us prisons within the trance which Tara is referencing in her quote.

Words can manifest freedom or imprisonment.

The main weapons of choice we use both on ourselves and others to wage war are our words - both spoken and said silently through our thoughts.

One of the Laws of Creation is “thought creates form.” The words we continually attach to, think, and say to ourselves internally and externally eventually manifest themselves into physical form.

The different “forms” become reflected in our actions, our relationships, our work life, our financial life, and even in what is happening within our physical body health and wellness wise.

If we want to manifest more experiences, like on the right side of the list my daughter showed me, of harmony, peace, acceptance, grace, joy, and kindness in our lives and within our global community the source of those hopes begins with liberating ourselves from waging war against ourselves through our words. This includes:

  • How do I speak to myself?
  • How do I speak about ourselves?
  • How do I engage in helping myself and others on their path of learning and growing into new ways of being?

The choice Tara offers within her quote is to learn how to approach ourselves and others with wisdom, compassion, and love.

I share more about how we can truly liberate ourselves from inner wars within my Episode 22 of Soulful Practices Podcast. You can watch the full episode either on Youtube or Spotify.

I hope the simple act of bringing this topic forward to you, helps you begin to explore the true power of your words.

Words are forces of creation and manifestation within our own lives AND within the collective. I truly believe that as each one of us awakens from the trance of inner war and consciously begins to choose the path of learning how to approach life with a wise and compassionate heart it will create ripples of freedom, wisdom, and compassion for those around us and beyond. Together we can help create lasting change and true healing, one heart, mind, and body at a time!

Offering you light, love, and JOY!
