CORONAVIRUS: What I can do to help maintain health and peace of mind during this crisis

Mar 15, 2020

It is hard not to feel a bit scared or powerless right now.  However, there are ways that you can help support your body, mind, and spirit shift from feeling vulnerable to feeling supported and centered.  I’d like to offer a couple of different Eden Energy Medicine and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or tapping) guided meditation that might be helpful in releasing you from fear and worry and open you to the healing energy of love and compassion.

Guided Meditation to Help Cultivate a Sense of Calm in a Storm

You are not alone.  I thought it might be helpful to share a little behind the scenes of what guided me to this channeled EFT meditation.  It came from a little moment yesterday morning when I realized that I was out of balance.

I was sitting down at breakfast and I found myself irritable and snapping back at the normal questions and chatter of my dear girls.  After the first snap, I told myself to chill out and take a breath. When the second one flew out of my mouth before I could stop, I pulled back and went inside to my heart space and asked what is this, who’s is this…I sent out an SOS to my team and asked for guidance.  What I received back was the fear and anger of the “whole”. I felt guided to sit with the emotions, bring love to them, and bring in the grace of forgiveness. I went and kissed the head of my daughter and said I was sorry.

After the girls left for school, I sat down for meditation and opened with a prayer, “Please help me connect with the field of grace that I know is surrounding me.  How can I help? I’m listening…” As I sat, I felt the emotions of pain, anger, hopelessness, worry, and more anger and fear pass through me like rippling waves. As they came and went I simply witnessed, honored, and offered grace to them.

For about a week I have been sitting with and holding a sacred space to witness and send love to the planet and all the beings that are struggling in the face of a global health crisis.  The biggest thing I witness during my holding sessions – overwhelming fear and a sense of powerlessness. One of Buddha’s teaching and I’m seriously paraphrasing here, was around the concept of illusions and how our illusions create the first level of our own personal hell.  One of the main illusions he taught was about the illusion of power and the fear that comes when we attach ourselves to the thought that we are powerless. That is the hell I witnessed when I sat with the feelings that flooded me that morning.

It is true, we do not know what the day has in store for us.  We cannot control the universe for how one person’s will and actions may or may not impact us.  It is also true that there is a crippling sense of fear that comes in the form of something we cannot “see” like a virus or bacteria.

Isolation and social distancing are one part of the “cure” because it does help reduce the physical spread of the virus.  However, what is the cost emotionally, mentally, and spiritually? I like to see the different challenges in my life as opportunities to learn and grow.  Is there a way we can grow from this and learn how to stay connected in some way, shape or form? Isolation, panic, and fear cause a rippling effect of breaks in connection.  Connection with others in the physical world, connection with ourselves, and connection with guidance.

A funny little thought was dropped into my mind as a result of the question, how can we grow through this?  The answer - what if this is just a reflection of what has been happening on the inner world of our species now showing up in the outer world in the physical form.  What if that “cure” can be found through being open to and holding with compassion the disconnection, isolation, fear, and powerlessness the planet is feeling right now versus stoking the fires of them.  What if the way through the illusion of the powerlessness so many feel right now is through prayer, faith, and dropping into what choices do we have versus what we don’t have?

We might not be able to physically change things in an instant or send our physical body to help, BUT we can send our thoughts, our prayers, our consciousness with love and compassion and light to help.

I hope these two exercises will help cultivate hope in supporting your body, mind, and spirit through these uncharted waters we are now faced with.

Sending light and love to all,
