What is your Turning Point Story?

Dec 02, 2024
An open book resting on a stone surface, symbolizing reflection, personal transformation, and the unfolding journey of discovering oneโ€™s turning point story.

One of the common questions I’m asked is some version of:
“What inspired you to do what you do?” or “Can you share how you decided to start Unbridled Change?”

Origin point and/or turning point stories are captivating to us because they embody the archetypal patterns of transformation and empowerment.

I believe we resonate so deeply with these stories because they help us feel a sense of hope.  If a seemingly ordinary person can take a moment or lifetime of pain, struggle, defeat, or being at their wit's end to not only feeling that something needs to change, but actually deciding to jump into the unknown and start anew, we can too.

For me, people want to know my origin story of why horses.  Yet, that story only represents one part of my journey and one aspect of the “work” I do.  I can point to many moments in my own life that I would consider turning points.  All of this includes the ingredients of struggle to surrender.  Moments where I could that I was either going to continue to die in a tomb of my past OR decide to release my attachments to my struggle and surrender into a willingness to partner with what new life was seeking to be born within me.

One of the major draws of turning point stories is that they help us remember that while some part of ourselves or our life is or has died, we don’t have to die with it.  We can release our attachment to the old, rise again, and transform our loss into creation.

I felt guided to record a vlog to go with this topic and share with you a Reflection practice that can help you connect with the power and grace held within your own turning point moments.

Excerpt of the Reflection Practice:

Pick a moment that you would consider a turning point moment for you (and remember it can big AND it can be small - for example, the day I decided to listen to the little voice within my heart that whispered hold that door for the person behind you and how that little moment rippled out into your day).

Feel into:

  • What was happening at that moment?
  • What ah-ha’s or insights were able to break through in that moment?
  • What doorways did that moment create for you or illuminate for you?

Additionally, in the vlog I deepen this practice ๐Ÿ™‚

Feel free to use this sample reflection practice anytime you feel that you are at a crossroads moment to help you gain perspective and guidance.

This Holy holiday season I offer you a blessing that:

May you have light within you and around you.
May this light help to warm your heart.
May this warmth give you comfort, compassion, and love for the parts of you that are needing to be seen, felt, and heard.

May you witness your life as the gift and blessing that it is.
May you feel empowered to share your light, warmth, and gifts with others.
May you in return feel the light, warmth, and gifts of others within your life too.

And so it is, peace, peace, peace.
